 | <br><br>Loretta Butler – Turner is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raleigh Butler and grand-daughter of the late Sir Milo Butler, the first Governor-General of The Commonwealth Of The Bahamas. She is the third generation of her family to sit in the Parliament of The Bahamas. Currently, Mrs. Butler-Turner is the only female member or The Cabinet.
Minister Butler- Turner received her primary and secondary education at St.Andrews’s School, in Nassau and her college education at New England Institute, Boston, Massachusetts. She is the first Bahamian to receive a Bachelor’s degree in Mortuary Sciences. Before entering frontline politics, she managed the family business Butler’s Funeral Home as Business Administrator, Funeral Director and Embalmer.
Mrs. Turner is a member of St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, a founding member of the National Heroes Committee, a charter member of the Zonta Club of New Providence and member of the Long Island Association. She is also an Executive Member of The Free National Movement, a member of the FNM’s Women’s Association and a Past Deputy Chairman of the Free National Movement which is presently the governing party.
She is married to Edward Turner an attorney-at-law and the couple has two children, Elizabeth and Edward III. |
