National H1N1 Flu Vaccination Schedule

Vaccination is proven to be the most effective way to protect a community from vaccine-preventable diseases. A safe and effective vaccine against the Influenza A (H1N1) virus has been produced; it is now available in The Bahamas. Following international guidelines, the Ministry of Health has determined that, initially, the vaccine will be offered to the high-risk groups listed below:
    • Pregnant women
    • Infants, age 6 months – 2 years
    • Health care workers
    • School age children, 10-19 yrs of age, with certain risk conditions (such as asthma, lung and heart disease)
    • Teachers

If you are included in any of the above groups, please visit your Community Health Clinic on the day scheduled. Other persons desiring the Vaccine will have the opportunity to be vaccinated during Phase 2 of the Government’s H1N1 Vaccination Programme.

For further information, please call the Department of Public Health at (242) 502-4737 or 502-4716 or contact your nearest Community Health Clinic. Residents in Grand Bahama should contact the Grand Bahama Health Services Coordinator at the Rand Memorial Hospital. Other Family Island residents should contact their nearest Community Health Clinic.
