PARCEL POST

PARCEL SERVICE
Parcel Post Service is offered by the Post office to accommodate large packages, which exceed letter post size limits . However, the make-up requirements applicable to items in letter post services are also applicable for parcels.

INSURANCE
Insurance is offered only on parcels. Parcels, which are to be insured, are to be given back to the clerk in return for a certificate of posting. Customs declaration forms must be completed and attached to the parcel.

ORDINARY PARCELS
Ordinary parcels must be given to the clerk and a certificate of posting is obtainable for a fee of 25¢. Customs declaration forms must also be completed and attached to these parcels.

STORAGE FEE
A storage fee is payable on parcels held by Post Office Department for thirty (30) days following the dispatch of the advice of arrival to the addressee.

PARCEL – warehouse and Customs clearance fees, etc.

1. Warehouse charges on parcels remaining in the post office for more than thirty (30) days after the addressee has been notified that such parcels are available for collection is $1.00 per day. Provided that due dispatch of notice to the addressee is indicated on such parcels it shall be deemed to be notice for the purpose of the section. Also, within twenty (20) days but not less than fifteen (15) days after the dispatch of such notice the addressee shall be further notified that such parcels available for collection and that they must be collected within thirty (30) days of the dispatch of the original notice. Charges may be waived with the consent of the Postmaster General Upon the return of the parcel to the sender.

2. Customs fee of $1.50 shall be charged for each parcel, which is delivered and attracts customs charges.

3. Customers purchasing insurance from the Post Office are encouraged to also purchase private coverage. The Post Office will not be responsible for any loss occurring outside of the Postal service. (domestic)
