This responsibility involves providing support and advice on the most appropriate fiscal, tax and economic policies with the aim of maximizing sustainable economic growth and development. Assistance in the development and management of the Government Budget is a major aspect of the Ministry’s function.

Units in the Ministry of Finance
Budget Unit
The Budget Unit prepares the annual budget and deals with the parliamentary procedures arising from these matters i.e. Estimates, Appropriation Bills etc. The unit monitors expenditure by government agencies.
Current Budget / Budget Communication
Revenue Section
The Revenue Section monitors and review the revenue system and procedures being used by those assigned Government Agencies to ensure compliance with established regulations and directives for efficient and effective revenue administration. The Section reviews applications for duty free exemptions. Prepare estimates of Revenue for the annual budget.
Economics Unit
Prepares briefs, reports and Cabinet Papers. Responsible for matters relating to Securities Legislation. Coordinates the work of the Securities Task Force. Liase with International Organization (FSAP, OECD, IDB, CDB, BDB, BAIC, World Bank etc.) on local projects and policy development. Prepare reports for the “think tank; on employment generation.
