Mission Statement
To promote the development, preservation, affirmation and celebration of the cultural life of the Bahamian community and to stimulate cultural and creative expressions at all levels of society. This will be done through research and the holding of festivals and workshops and the encouragement of the performing and visual arts.

JUNKANOO FEATURES ABROAD
A Bahamian Junkanoo contigent consisting of 30
participants will take their art-form to London, July 2 to
22 July, 2008. This groups consists of members from
both Junkanoo A &B groups. There are also others
joining the groups from Grand Bahama and Eleuthra.
They will be performing at 7 different locations. The
series of events will be sponsored by the Arts
Council of England.
E. CLEMENT BETHEL NATIONAL ARTS FESTIVAL 2008
The adjudicators of the E-Clement Bethel National Festival have completed all of their adjudications in New Providnce, Freeport and The Family Islands.
The Govenor General's Award has been determined. There will also be special receiptient's awards in Music, Art & Craft, Drama and Dance.The winners' list ( first, second and thirds places will be distributed to participants. They have just been complete. They will be posted on our website as soon as everything becomes official.
Preparations are also being made for National Pride Day
and Independnce Day. E. Clement Bethel National
Arts Festival winners and other participants will also be participating in the aforementioned events.
EXPLORING THE ARTS

The Festival has reintroduced The Arts Exhibition and Competition under the Theme, "Exploring the Arts" at the Central Bank. The adjudicator, Mr. Heino Schmid, has travelled to the Family Islands and Grand Bahama selecting works for the show. Mr. Ellery Deveaux is the Visual Officer and co-ordinator of the show. The general observation was the resources, motivation and exposure have to be increased, but the potential is there at this early stage.

The first "CARIFESTA" was held in Guyana in 1972; since then, eight fetivals have been held. The most recent was held in Trinadad and Tobago in September, 2006. CARIFESTA is a ten day event that happens every two years. The next CARIFESTA is proposed to be in 2008 in Guyana from 15 August - 24 August, 2008. In 2010, CARIFESTA XI will be held in the Bahamas. There are 64 participatig entities in the Bahamas featured, including Morro Castle.
