E. CLEMENT BETHEL NATIONAL ARTS FESTIVAL IN ABACO
On 12th March - 14 March, The National Arts Festival 2008 team visited the Island of Abaco. Adjudications in Music and Arts & Craft there proved to be quite revealing. There were rear entries from James Pinder Primary School; Cherokee Primary School; Hope Town School and Man - O - War All Age School.
There were also other contestants that were adjudicated last Festival at the Abaco Central High School . They consisted of solo and group performances in the brass, percussion, piano and vocal categories. There is so much native ability there and the expertise of the adjudicators and future workshops will bring it out. There is also need for a Music and Art & Craft shop in these parts. This year 2008, the Family Island entries are exceeding those in 2007.
At the Central Abaco Primary School, the community category was adjudicated. We heard in the Adult Gospel Category, last year's special prize recepient, Mr. Basil Been and a protege of his. We were also surprised with the professionalism and polished delivery of "The New Entry Band" - a dance band whose performers are already seasoned.
