The Governor-General's Patronage

When considering requests from groups inviting the Governor-General to be Patron for organizations and events, such patronage will normally be afforded to organizations which, generally speaking, have the broadest representative or national significance, and which are also servicing community needs with active and non-discriminatory projects and programs.

The Bahamas Red Cross and the Governor-General’s Youth Award serve as prime examples of this.

It is important that organizations formally granted Patronage by the Governor-General should have governance and financial credentials of the highest order. It would also be expected that organizations which have been accredited with Patronage should report annually to the Governor-General, as Patron, regarding their activities, achievements and financial situation.
