Mr. David Ramsey, B.A.

Supply Reduction Office

Mr. David Ramsey is 33 year veteran of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, who presently serves as the Supply Reduction Officer in the National Anti-Drug Secretariat at the Ministry of National Security.  Mr. Ramsey was born in Conch Sound, Andros, grew up and schooled in Nassau.  On 1st May 1984 he enlisted in the Royal Bahamas Police Force.  On completion of basic training he was posted at the Central Police Division and later transferred to the Internal Security Division and onto the Drug Enforcement Unit where he served for 21 years. During his career, Mr. Ramsey attended numerous regional and international trainings, meetings and workshops in the United States, United Kingdom, South America and around the Caribbean.

 

As the Supply Reduction Officer, Mr. Ramsey works in close collaboration with all governmental and non governmental agencies involved with drug control, namely Bahamas National Drug Council, Sandilands Rehabilitation Center, Bahamas Association for Social Health (BASH), Teen Challenge and many others.  Mr. Ramsey’s position also places him in close contact with many International Organization such as the United Nation Office on Drugs and Crime and the Organization of American States (OAS).  During the Sixth Round of the Inter-American Drug Control Commission of the Organization of American States Multilateral Evaluation Mechanism (CICAD/MEM) Mr. Ramsey was appointed as the Bahamas’ Representative to the Governmental Expert Group.  This position afforded him the opportunity to evaluate the drug control policies and efforts of other countries in North and South America.  He was recently appointed as the Bahamas’ representative on the CICAD/OAS Inter-governmental Working Group for the Seventh Round of Multilateral Evaluation Mechanism (MEM).

 

Mr. Ramsey holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and a second in Christian Leadership from New Covenant University, Jacksonville, Florida.

 

Mr. Ramsey is a born again Christian who serves as a Deacon in his local Church and continues to give back to society as a mentor to many young people.
