The Bahamas’ farming community has suffered a double catastrophe with the devastation on the islands of Abaco and Grand Bahama caused by Hurricane Dorian in 2019 and with the present (2020) COVID pandemic. The loss of jobs, particularly in the tourism sector, has caused a paradigm shift towards improving the lives and livelihoods of Bahamians, allowing for an increase in online/digital skills trainings in numerous areas using the agMOOCs platform. Therefore, The Ministry of Agriculture and Marine Resources (MAMR), along with The Bahamas Agricultural Health and Food Safety Authority (BAHFSA) are pleased to partner with Commonwealth of Learning (COL) to offer an introductory course on GAPs that will help to build capacity in the agricultural sector.
