Chewy Chips Ahoy Recall

Mondelez Global LLC issued a voluntary recall for its red, 13 oz. packages of Chewy Chips Ahoy on April 16, 2019 due to the potential of an unexpected solidified agent in the product.  The company has received reports of potential adverse health effects, however, they did not disclose what ingredient/s may solidify or what health effects people complained about.

 

The recall includes packages that say, “Chips Ahoy Chewy Cookie” with UPC 0 44000 03223 4 and the following best when used by dates:

  1. 07SEP2019
  2. 08SEP2019
  3. 14SEP2019
  4. 15SEP2019

There have been no other Chips Ahoy products implicated in the recall.

 

Retailers and Wholesalers are asked to remove this product (with the UPC number indicated) from their shelves and discontinue its sale to consumers.

 

For consumers who have bought this product with the UPC number implicated, are asked to throw it out and to not eat it.  Consumers who may have eaten this product and have experienced any discomfort, are asked to visit the nearest health clinic. No cases to date have been reported to the Ministry of Health Surveillance Unit.
