FREEPORT, Grand Bahama -- After not being held for three years, a Bahamian Art and Craft Show will be held on Saturday, November 24 from 9 am to 8 pm.  'Authenticity,’ as it is commonly known, was announced by Executive Chairman of BAIC, Michael Foulkes during a press conference on Thursday, November 8. The event is being held in conjunction with the Ministry of Tourism.

Held under the theme, “Bahamian Tings,” the exhibit will be at BAIC grounds on Alcester Road and East Sunrise Highway.

“The purpose of the Art and Craft Show is to bring together artisans and artists throughout Grand Bahama, to create a ‘Craft Village’ highlighting indigenous Bahamian made products.  The Art and Craft Show will incorporate the industries of art, craft, souvenir, clothing, accessories, jewellery, packaged and processed foods,” Mr. Foulkes said.

Although most of the 20 booths are taken, those interested in displaying their products are asked to contact BAIC.

According to Mr. Foulkes, “BAIC remains committed to creating, developing, and marketing, promoting and even processing quality Bahamian-made products for the domestic and international markets.”

Karen Seymour of the Ministry of Tourism said the Ministry is happy to partner with BAIC during this event and as it is being held at the beginning of the Yuletide Season, the Ministry will ensure that those guests on island know about it. It will be an opportunity, she said, for them to purchase an authentically Bahamian Christmas present.
