  1. Collects all user fees.
  2. Provides driving credentials at the local and international level.
  3. Tests vehicle for road suitability and issues inspections.
  4. Issues franchises for public transportation.
  5. Promotes road safety and participates in traffic flow matters.
  6. Sets speed limits and other road related issues.
  7. Regulates public transportation.

In addition to the regular customer service, several programmes in the department will be expanded and a few new programmes will be introduced. 
They are;

  • Driving and
  • Safety Programmes

    • These initiatives will focus on safety; reduce traffic collisions. Open driving range as a practice and testing facility for new and mature drivers.
    • Redesign and expand the existing driving manual for all road users. Introduce vision screening and mandatory vision testing for new drivers and all public service drivers.
    • Expand the Defensive Driving Programme. Create a special category of license and testing for drivers of commercial vehicles.
    • Create legislation for Driving Instructors.
    • Improve Public Service Vehicles. Introduce new policy on standards for vehicles and drivers. Place a value on the taxicab license in keeping with world trends, change livery to limousine. Revise the existing legislation to articulate policy on window tinting in automobiles.

    MANAGEMENT & CONTROL SECTION
    *Improve records management to effectively tract the movement of vehicles.
    *Improve customer service.
    *Improve social interaction and customer care.
    *Improve human resources and staff employment.
    *Improve collection of road user fees and taxes.
