Pre-Remembrance Day Centennial Military Parade and Wreath Laying Celebrates 100th Anniversary of End of WWI

NASSAU, The Bahamas -- Minister of National Security, the Hon. Marvin Dames, Commander of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Commodore Tellis Bethel, and Commissioner of Police Anthony Ferguson joined the British Legion -- Bahamas Branch (BLBB), RBDF officers and marines and Government uniformed personnel, members of  the Diplomatic Corps, veterans, family members and stakeholders at the Pre-Remembrance Day Centennial Military Parade and Wreath Laying Ceremony, in Downtown Nassau, on Sunday, November 4, 2018.  The event held under the theme "We WIll Remember Them," celebrated to the 100th Anniversary of the ending of World War I.  It was also an opportunity to pay tribute to the Late Sir Etienne Dupuch, the Late Miss Mary Moseley and "The Gallant Thirty" -- the first group of Bahamian volunteers for World War I.  Among those also taking part in the event were Chairman of the BLBB Bishop Cephas Ferguson, BBLB Liaison Officer Commander Shondel Pinder, BLBB Executive Secretary and RBDF Reservist Adina Munroe-Charlow, and RBDF Chaplin Rev. Prince Bodie, the RBDF Colour Guard, Honorary Consul for Jamaica and Dean of Consuls in The Bahamas Mr. Patrick Hanlan, family members of honourees and veterans, and Bag Piper Mr. Robert Latimer -- a guest of Honourary Consul for Canada to The Bahamas Mr. Harvey Skolnick.  Remembrance Day is Sunday, November 11, 2018 which will be observed with traditional service at Christ Church Cathedral and Parade to the Garden of Remembrance.   (BIS Photos / Eric Rose)
