NASSAU, Bahamas (May 8, 2019) – Today, the National Security Minister, Hon. Marvin H. Dames announced the appointment of a Review Committee to investigate circumstances related to the fatal shooting of 30 year Defence Force Veteran, Petty Officer Philip Perpall, that occurred on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at Government House.   The announcement came during a press conference at Churchill Conference Room. 

 

Minister Dames appointed four qualified professionals who will conduct the inquiry with immediate effect.  The four Committee Members are:

1. Mr. Reginald Ferguson, QPM, Retired Commissioner of Police; Chair

2. Mr. Roderick Bowe, Former Commodore of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, Retired;

3. Mr. Douglas Hanna, Retired Superintendent of Police;

4. Mr. Paul Jones, Retired Police Officer and Attorney- at- Law.

 

The Review Committee is being tasked with reviewing the incident and ultimately determining whether or not there were any breaches or failures in security at Government House during the morning of the incident.  Their investigations will be conducted during a two-month period after which they will report their findings to the Minister of National Security to be communicated to the Bahamian people.
