A pair of scientists from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations are in the capital as a part of the rapid response teams deployed by the Ministry of Agriculture & Marine Resources to Abaco and Grand Bahama.

Those islands were severely impacted by the passage of Hurricane Dorian on September 1st. The rapid assessment of the killer hurricane's impact on the agricultural and marine output from those islands is critical to our national plan to rebuild those sectors. Before deploying, the scientists paid a courtesy call on Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture & Marine Resources, Ms. Elise Delancy. Pictured are FAO National Correspondent for The Bahamas Delreese Moss_Grant, FAO Marine Specialist Dr. Iris Monnereau, Permanent Secretary Elise Delancy, FAO Livestock Specialist Dr. Patricia Bedford and Assistant Director of Agriculture, Andrew Pinder.

A comprehensive report on their findings and the needs of the sectors will be released in the near future.
