NASSAU, The Bahamas – The Bahamas Girl Guides Association recognized World Thinking Day at a ceremony on the grounds of Government House, Mount Fitzwilliam recently.

The Governor-General Her Excellency Dame Marguerite Pindling  told those gathered that the day provides an opportunity to unite and participate in activities which promote changing the world for a better outcome.

“This is indeed important in as much as we live in a changing world and in changing societies which require our full attention and participation. The need for us to be ready to meet the challenges which change brings is therefore critical to the development of our people and organizations,” said Dame Marguerite.

The Governor-General said the values and principles which members uphold, have remained the glue that holds together the powerful organization of girls and women as sisters, friends, confidants and comrades.

“Over many years the Bahamas Girl Guides Association has inspired and motivated hundreds of our young ladies to dare to be better persons, to imagine and to create an improved society.”

She saluted the Guides and their leaders for their steps in improving the lives of many and encouraged them to continue the principles of guiding which have inspired them throughout the years.

World Thinking Day is celebrated annually on February 22 by all Girl Guides organizations.
