Nassau, The Bahamas: The Ministry of Agriculture and Marine Resources hosted a Pre-retirement luncheon for Under-Secretary Alpheus Forbes on 6th February 2018, under the theme: "Celebrating you on your Journey". The event was held in the conference Room on the 2nd floor of the Ministry's administration building.

Minister Pintard, in his tribute said that it was an honour and pleasure to have had the opportunity to pay tribute to his big brother Alphaeus Forbes, who have over the years consummated professionalism in the public service. He recalled when he was a consultant with government many many years ago, the efficiency with which Mr. Forbes discharge his duties, the joyful spirit he brought to work, the inspiration served for those who worked with him, the analogies, stories, and humorous points to lighten the moment, but to make the point with which he shared humbly but candidly and as a man was prepared to tell the truth no matter who held the position. The Minister also thank him for the contributions he made in his life, the lives of others in the public service, his family by extension for lending him to us for all these years and that as a brother he will be looking forward to making contact with him to benefit from his wisdom and guidance.

Ms. Phedra Rahming, Permanent Secretary, in her tribute wished Undersecretary Forbes, who she regarded not only as a colleague but a friend, blessings upon blessings. She said that as he sits on his veranda in Eleuthera and looks out to the ocean, she hoped that he would not sip from his cup of blessings, but rather from his saucer because his blessings would have overflowed. She also encouraged him to enjoy every moment of retirement with his family, particularly his grandchildren. Other Senior staff members also expressed their aspirations for his new journey.

Following the reflections, all staff participated in a luncheon facilitated by the senior managers.

Minister Pintard, on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture and Marine Resources and the countless public servants, whose lives have been touched, wished Undersecretary Forbes God’s Blessing.
