UB Launches CCARR Centre

NASSAU, The Bahamas – University of The Bahamas officially announced the establishment of a Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience Research Centre (CCARR Centre) at the Harry C. Moore Library and Information Centre, Wednesday, November 20, 2019.

 

UB President Dr. Rodney Smith said in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian it became even clearer that The Bahamas must find innovative ways to adapt to climate change for its survival.

 

He underscored the need for sound research specific to the islands as relates to how the country adapts to climate change.

 

Assistant Professor Dr. Adelle Thomas explained that the CCARR Centre will focus on research on climate change adaptation, loss and damage, and comprehensive disaster risk management.

Activities of the Centre will focus on research, policy engagement, education and outreach.
