As The Bahamas expands digital transformation with recent implementation of E-Filing and Case Management at the Industrial Tribunal, Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, the Hon. Carl Bethel, and Permanent Secretary Cecilia Strachan paid a courtesy call on President of the Industrial Tribunal, Her Honour Indira Demeritte Francis, on August 19, 2019 for a viewing of the new e-filing portal.

The new system was implemented at the Industrial Tribunal on August 12, 2019.  For the first time, litigants, advocates and legal representatives accessing The Bahamas Industrial Tribunal will be able to file their cases anytime, from anywhere, including the Family Islands.

A live demonstration of the e-filing process was conducted for the Attorney General and his Permanent Secretary, which illustrated the simple steps necessary to e-file a document.  The law firm of Rionda Deleveaux-Godet participated in the live demonstration from its chambers on Nassau Street.

The courtesy call also included viewing the Curia Case Management aspect, which has created a more secure and efficient way to submit and manage documents at the Tribunal.  The Folio E-filing system and the Attache-Curia Case Management system were both implemented in record time by Apex, a Caribbean-based non-profit technology agency established by the Caribbean Court of Justice in 2017 to support the modernization of courts in the Caribbean.

The Industrial Tribunal will collaborate with the Office of the Attorney General to continue upgrading and enhancing the capacity of the Tribunal.
