The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of The Bahamas is pleased to inform the general public that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Darren A. Henfield, MP, received a call this morning, Wednesday, 29 July 2020, by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, HE HUANG Qinguo, at the Ministry’s Headquarters during which the two dignitaries addressed matters of mutual bilateral interest, with a major focus on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the continued good relations in the multilateral arena with respect to China’s efforts to provide assistance to the Latin American and Caribbean region for relief against the pandemic.

The Ambassador took the opportunity to inform the Minister that a fifth tranche of COVID-19 assistance to The Bahamas from China would be delivered officially to the new Minister of Health, the Hon. Renward Wells, this coming Friday, 31 July, 2020. Minister Henfield thanked Ambassador Huang for this welcomed initiative.

The meeting served to confirm that the existing, important bilateral and multilateral activities, though slowed because of the current conditions in The Bahamas, China and around the world, were still very much being addressed, with a view to their resumption in a time of the new normal.
