NASSAU, Bahamas (May 17, 2019) – The Hon. Jeffrey Lloyd, Minister of Education, Science and Technology lauded late Petty Officer Percival Phillip Percival as one committed to serve the Bahamian people.

He was representing National Security Minister, Hon. Marvin H. Dames at the Full Military Funeral Service for Petty Officer Perpall on Thursday, May 16 at the Church of God Convention Centre, Joe Farrington Road.

“Today, family members, friends, colleagues, and indeed our nation grieve the loss of one who was devoted to serving his family, community and his country for over 30 years as an upstanding member of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force,” said Minister Lloyd.

In highlighting Petty Officer Perpall’s 30 year career after enlisting in the Royal Bahamas Defence Force in 1988, Minister Lloyd said the late officer gained much appreciation from the vast experience of working in various departments of the Force.  Most notably he said was his overseas deployment as a member of the Defence Force’s third contingent within the CARICOM Battalion under the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Haiti.   He added that Petty Officer Perpall’s national service extended to civic commitment as he volunteered with colleagues to adopt the War Veterans Cemetery on Infant View Road.

As he paid tribute to Petty Officer Perpall, Minister Lloyd encouraged loved ones to find comfort “in treasured memories and in knowing that he was a highly respected individual, who cared deeply for the well-being of all, and dedicated his life to the security of our nation and its borders”.

Said Minister Lloyd, “The Government of The Bahamas, and indeed, the people of The Bahamas are therefore truly grateful for the exceptional service that Petty Officer Perpall so ably provided.  We are forever indebted to his service.”
