PM to Open Technical and Industrial High School Forum and Exhibition in Grand Bahama

FREEPORT, Grand Bahama – Prime Minister the Most Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis, is set to officially open a Technical and Industrial High School Forum and Exhibition on Friday, April 5, 2019.
 

The event, jointly sponsored by the Office of the Prime Minister in Grand Bahama and the Ministry of Labour, was announced on Wednesday, March 27 during a press conference at OPM.  Minister of Labour, Senator the Hon. Dion Foulkes, is also expected to be in attendance.

 

The Tech Fair will be held on Friday from 10 am to 3 pm at the St. Georges High School Gymnasium.

 

According to Janet Russell, Assistant Director of Labour, the event is geared towards some 400 high school students from Bimini and Grand Bahama in both the public and private sectors.

 

“The Forum and Exhibition will bring awareness to the need for more skilled labourers here in Grand Bahama and the shortage of manpower that exists in the technical and industrial sector.”

 

Of the 20 companies expecting to participate, there will be: Buckeye, Clear Blue, Bradford Marine, KOTUG, Pineyard Technical Centre, BTVI, UB, Ruthnell Technical, Aliv, Quality Service, GIBC, Grand Bahama Port Authority, Cable Bahamas, Bahama Rock, Grand Bahama Shipyard, Air Traffic Controllers as well as the Utility Companies of Grand Bahama.
