NASSAU, The Bahamas – The Hon. Jeffrey Lloyd, Minister of Education, underscored that the immediate temporary suspension of the 2020 Bahamas General Certificate of Secondary Examinations (BGCSE) and Bahamas Junior Certificate (BJC) is just that – a suspension and not a cancellation.

In a communication to the House of Assembly, Wednesday, July 22, 2020, Minister Lloyd encouraged students who are sitting the 2020 examinations to continue their preparations. He advised parents and students that this suspension is not a pass to relax efforts towards preparations.

“These crucial exams which serve as substantial credentials for our students will be administered as soon as clearance is given by the competent authority,” said Mr. Lloyd.

His announcement came following the Government’s declaration of a lockdown of the island of Grand Bahama due to a spike in COVID-19 cases, and in an effort to ensure the safety of all concerned and to protect the integrity of the national examinations.

The MOE urges the public to stay tuned to official media reports and the Ministry’s official social media platforms for relevant updates.
