NASSAU, The Bahamas -- Minster of Youth, Sports and Culture the Hon. Lanisha Rolle led the accolades and recognition, on November 27, 2019, as her Ministry's Department of Sports honoured 20 Bahamian Women in Sports, in celebration of National Sports Heritage Month and National Women's Week. The honourees each received individual recognition in the House of Assembly. They were also the guests of honour, and received certificates at a luncheon held at the British Colonial Hilton. Among those present were Senator the Hon. Jennifer Dotson; the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, David Cates; Under Secretaries Montez Williams and Renee Bullard (Acting); Executive Director of Culture Rowena Poitier Sutherland; Director of Sports Timothy Munnings; other Ministry staff; sports stakeholders; family members and friends. The honourees were: Agatha Delancy; Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace; Chandra Sturrup; Cora Hepburn; Eldece Clarke; Della Thomas; Debbie Ferguson; Cynthia "Mother" Pratt; Tonique Williams; Barbara Thompson; Natasha Brown; Oria Wood Knowles; Sevatheda Fynes; Shonel Ferguson; Rosamunde Carey; Pauline Davis-Thompson; Georgette Rolle; Vicki Knowles; Waltiea Rolle; and Yollet McPhee-McCuin.
