By promulgation of the Competent Authority, and in accordance with the COVID-19 Update of May 3rd, 2020, "Professional Athletes" have been granted permission to resume their training with immediate effect. In accordance with that announcement, the purpose of this communication is to provide further details for the benefit of members of the Sporting Community.

For these purposes, the term "Professional Athlete" includes;

  1. Athletes currently receiving government subvention,
  2. Athletes on a professional contract (e.g. Nike, Adidas, Puma etc.),
  3. Elite athletes who compete for financial benefit and national team members.

Where necessary, athletes wishing to use the facilities within the Queen Elizabeth Sports Centre should contact the National Sports Authority to arrange scheduled access to the available facilities.

Subject to any changes to the Phased Plan for the Re-Opening of the economy, it is anticipated that all athletes of every level will be able to resume their normal fitness routines at Phase 4 of the stated Plan.

The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture thanks the members of the sports community for their continued cooperation. We also take this opportunity to remind members of the importance of continuing to adhere to the health and safety protocols as published by health professionals; and to stay safe by employing mitigation efforts proven to limit and / or reduce the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.
