Job Vacancy Notice - Court Security

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for appointment as DIRECTOR OF COURT SECURITY/MANAGER OF LAW ENFORCEMENT & SECURITY SERVICES within the Office of the Judiciary (Supreme & Magistrates' Courts), New Providence, The Bahamas.

 

The successful applicant would report to The Honourable Chief Justice and the Registrar of the Supreme Court.

 

Key Responsibilities:-

  • Ensuring a secure environment for all Judicial officers, staff and the public by organizing and providing protective security;
  • Oversee Court Marshals attached to the Supreme and Magistrate’s Courts;
  • Implementing systems and procedures to ensure that proper searches and screenings are carried out on all persons entering the Court facilities at all locations;
  • Indentifying and correcting breeches in security and recommending new policies and r policy changes as needed related to court and personnel security;
  • Ensuring that there are adequate physical security of the Court buildings and equipment;
  • Organizing and scheduling security details;
  • Serve as the Courts' liaison with Department of Corrections, Royal Bahamas Police Force and Royal Bahamas Defense Force to ensure the safety of Judges, Magistrates, Registrars, Staff, the Public and court buildings.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful applicant must have a Masters Degree in Law Enforcement Intelligence and Analysis.

 

OR 

  • A Bachelors Degree in Management or a related area, with a minimum of ten (10) years experience in Security Services, five of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
  • The Applicant should have knowledge of technical aspects of the court security operations and knowledge of the laws of the Bahamas;
  • The position requires knowledge of and experience in the development of security plans and management of security services;
  • The Applicant must have the ability to work independently, develop written reports, plans, and procedures, exercise discretion, confidentiality, and impartiality;
  • The Applicant must be computer literate and able to utilize a personal computer, office equipment and job related software;
  • The Applicant must possess Supervisory skills as they would be responsible for supervision of Court Security operations and staff, including performance evaluation reports and participation in selection and training;

Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience.
