It is a requirement of The Government of The Bahamas that all boats/jet skis to be used privately, must be registered.  The registration process at the Port Department is one designed to assist the private boat owners in getting their licenses in an efficient manner.  

Must be a Bahamian boat/ski owner.  

Note: Non- residents are required to secure a pass from immigration and customs regarding access the waters. 

1. To registration for a Private License the applicant must fill out and submit an application Form to the Port Department Office on New Providence or any of the other Port Department offices listed below.
2. The applicant must pay the registration fee at the time that the application is submitted and provide all supporting documents listed below.
3. The Port Department evaluates the vessel to ensure that it has adequate crew and determine a limit the maximum amount of passengers that can be safely transported on boat.  
4. Once all registration requirements are satisfied the Private License is issued.

• Proof of ownership of the boat
• Proof of payment of Customs Duty (if boat was not purchased in the Bahamas)
• A valid form of national photo identification
