This service will assist persons purchasing farm equipment by offering a reduced import duty. Persons who would be interested in this service include:

  • Residents.
  • Farmers and Agri-businesses.
  • Persons dealing in fisheries and forest industry goods

Eligibility 
  • Must be a registered farmer with the Department of Agriculture.
  • Must have a Business Licence.
Process 
  1. Applicant must submit a letter requesting duty-free exemption on the purchase of farm equipment. This letter should be addressed to the Director of Agriculture.
  2. An interview will then be conducted and an appointment made to conduct a site visit at the applicant’s farm or business.
  3. Application is approved.

If the applicant is not satisfied with the service they have received, he/she may contact their local office at the addresses indicated above.

If satisfaction is not received, he/she may contact the Director of Agriculture at # 397-7450 or by visiting the Department’s Office on Gladstone and Munnings Road.
