Confirmed in Employment indicates that that an officer is now a part of the Permanent and Pensionable Establishment.

Officers must perform satisfactorily during the probationary period to be confirmed in the appointment and thus become a permanent and pensionable officer. Only Bahamians are appointed on these conditions.

Although an officer may be appointed to the Permanent and Pensionable Establishment sometime after his initial appointment to The Public Service, all of the years prior to his being made permanent & pensionable would count toward the award of pension benefits.

Eligibility

A  Bahamian Citizen who meets any of the following criteria:

  • An officer on probationary terms is eligible for confirmation in appointment after serving a satisfactory probationary period.
  • Temporary Weekly Terms  and  Temporary Month to Month terms may become eligible for appointment to the Permanent and Pensionable Establishment and confirmation in appointment after satisfactory performance.

Note:  If an officer would have served for less than five years prior to retirement, the officer would not be eligible for appointment to the Permanent and Pensionable Establishment.

Process
  1. The Agency will submit a recommedation on behalf of the officer for confirmation, along with the Performance Appraisal Report.
