A member of the Tuberculosis (TB) Control Team interviews every client identified with or suspected of having TB. The purpose of the interview is to identify the people with whom they have been in close contact, and thus are at risk for being infected with TB. These identified individuals will be contacted and also investigated for TB infection and TB disease.


Eligibility 

Any member of the public, once suspected to be or to have been in contact with someone infected with TB.

Process 
  1. Healthcare workers make initial contact with persons suspected to have come in contact with TB patient.
  2. Receive information packet and participate in educational discussion about TB.
  3. Give convenient time for healthcare workers to return and administer TB tests.
  4. Participate in testing. (Healthcare worker administers TB skin test and arranges to read the test at 48 or 72 hours.)
  5. Follow subsequent recommendations.
  6. Should positive diagnosis for TB is confirmed, participate in DOTS Programme.
