Any seafood product that will be exported must meet the required food standards before an Export certification is granted.


Eligibility 
  • Must be in possession of a factory vessel licence or processing plant licence.
  • Must have at least 2 HACCP certified persons employed by the plant or facility
Process 
  1. Complete and submit a letter of request for inspection to The Department of Marine Resources.
  2. An Inspector will schedule an inspection appointment date with the applicant.
  3. The Inspector will undertake the inspection and testing.
  4. Applicant should then pay relevant fees upon approval.

For requests from The Family Islands, the inspection can be undertaken by a Fishery Inspector once available. Otherwise, the request must be sent via fax to the Department of Marine Resources in New Providence.

  3. Hazard Analysis documentation ( specify product).
  4. HACCP Plan documentation ( specify product).
  5. Documents to show at least 2 HACCP certified persons employed by the plant or facility.
Turn-around time 
An Export certificate will be issued 3 to 5 working days after receipt of request letter.
Deadline 
For New Providence facilities, letters requesting inspection should be submitted at least 48 hours in advance. For the Family Islands, letters requesting inspection should be submitted at least 72 hours in advance.
