Overview of Arawak Cay

In the summer of 1994, the Arawak Cay Conch, Fish, Vegetable and Food Vendors Association was formed and on May 1st 2002, its members were granted leases on their premises now known as the Down Home Fish Fry, the administration of which was transferred to the Ministry of Agriculture and Marine Resources in 2007.

The Down Home Fish Fry is a venue where native cuisine is prepared and sold to Bahamians and tourists. Its atmosphere and architecturally designed stalls exemplify the Bahamian culture.

The Ministry has oversight of its management and the public can access its grounds for functions. Upgrades have been undertaken to make the premises more environmentally friendly.
