The growth and development of youth bands form a microcosm of the ministry’s strategic plan for youth development.  Youth bands provide healthy alternatives for youth at the community level.  It is an avenue for discipline and training, development of artistic ability, enhancement of personhood through the acquisition of pride and self-fulfillment, enhancement of self worth, cultural awareness and positive socialisation.

Youth Band may register with the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture to be eligible for government grants and other assistance offered by the Department of Youth.


Eligibility 

Band members must be Bahamian citizens or residents.

Process 
  1. Bands in New Providence and Grand Bahama may be collect application forms at The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture Offices. Youth Bands from the Family Islands may collect from the Administrator’s Office on the island. Alternatively, you may use the link below to download the application form.
  2. New Providence and Grand Bahama Youth bands must fill out and submit the application form to the Ministry in New Providence and Freeport respectively.  Youth Organisations from the Family Islands may submit completed forms to the Family Island Administrator Office on the island.  
  3. The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture will phone Nassau and Freeport applicant acknowledging receipt of the application.
  4. The Department of Youth will review the application to ensure that mandate of the ministry is being supported by the youth band’s objective.
  5. The department will contact successful Youth band in writing to inform them that they’ve been registered with the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture.

Turn-around time 

Applications are processed within a period of one month.
