The Bahamas National Geographic Information Systems Centre, at the request of The Bahamas Telecommunications  Company (BTC), provided Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and GIS training for technical and management level officers in Grand Bahama.

Using GIS Data provided to the BNGIS Centre on Grand Bahama, a customized training session with field exercises was conducted for BTC.

Officers received lecture materials which provided background information on GPS (Trimble hand held units and Trimble Pathfinder Officer) and GIS (utilizing ESRI GIS desktop software). Hands-on data collection was also carried out with officers learning how to process GPS data and import to a GIS environment where data collected in the field could be displayed and analyzed.

The Training would assist BTC with management of the telecommunications infrastructure.

The Training Session was funded by BTC.

Ms. Antonique Sweeting, BNGISC Trainer, conducted the training and prepared all training materials.
