In accordance with the Cooperative Societies Act 2005 & Cooperative Societies Regulations 2012 (Proposed) all cooperative societies must be registered by the Director of Societies. The Certificate of Registration confirms that a cooperative society is registered with the Director of Societies. In the event of loss or damage of a Certificate of Registration, the cooperative society may request a replacement from the Department of Cooperative Development.
Registered Cooperative Societies that have lost or damaged the Certificate of Registration.
- The cooperative society must write to Director of Societies with a justification regarding the lost/damaged certificate requesting a replacement copy.
- This request must be submitted on the letter head of the cooperative.
- The request is reviewed by the Director of Societies. Once approved, the director re-issues a copy of the Certificate of Registration.
- Applicant is then informed in writing that the certificate is ready for collection.

A request for a replacement Certificate of Registration is processed within 2 weeks. There are no deadlines associated with this serviceA replacement fee of BS$20.00 is payable upon collection of the certificate.
