Ms. Carla Johnson, A.A.

Executive Officer

Carla Johnson, works presently as Administrative Assistant for the Director of The National Anti-Drug Secretariat, in the Ministry  of National Security.  A 1981, graduate of C.C.Sweeting Senior High and a thirty four  (34)  year veteran in The Bahamas Public Service she began her career in the public service in 1982, where  she enrolled in the  Ministry  of Health,  Health Aide Programme.   This programme equipped  her to work in the various Ministries/Department : - Environmental Health Services,  Department of  Public  Health (Clinics), Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre – Occupational Therapy and the Princess Margaret Hospital -  Pharmacy and Dental Sections

 

In 1983, Ms. Johnson successfully completed  the one year  prescribed course for Health-Aides and was awarded a certificate she wasassigned to the Department of Environmental Health Serivces (DEHS from 1983 – 1995).  After enrolling  an completing a six week Mini Secretarial course at Toyas Typing School, she successfully obtained certificates in Greg  Shorthand, Typing I and II and Computer skills, Carla was assigned to The Blue Hill Depot as Secretary for the Manager.   In 1996, Carla was seconded to the Health Services where she worked for Deputy Permanent Secretary, and assisted with secretarial duties for Minister of.  Upon the name change of Ministries  Carla worked with  several senior officers in the various sections :-

  • Office of The Deputy Prime Minister and Public Enterprises-, Secretary to Deputy Permanent Secretary;
  • Office of The Deputy Prime Minister & Ministry of National Security- Secretary to The Manager and assisted with (Security Guards  & Inquiry  Agent and Office Management Services);
  • Office of The Deputy Prime Minister and Ministry of National Security- Secretary to Minister, and Secretary to Deputy Permanent Secretary ( Prerogative of Mercy Unit);
  • The Ministry of National Security and Immigration – Secretary to The Minister of State;
  • National Anti-Drug Secretariat – Secretary to  Assistant Director.

In July 2007, Carla was  awarded a Certificate of recognition for outstanding academic achievements at the 23rd Annual Commencement Exercises, and a certificate of appreciation for valuable service to the Department of Professional Development graduating with Honours  from Success Training College in 2008 with  an Associates of Arts Degree in Human Resources. 

 

In 2010 Carla was awarded a Certificate of Merit from The Ministry of Tourism after completing a written examination with The Bahama Host Programme as an official Public Service Driver . She received the outstanding participant in the 456th session of the Bahamahost Programme

Carla is an active member of the great St. Barnabas  Anglican Church where she is a member of the Auxillary Group, Praise Team and Choir.  She is the proud mother of two sons Kyle and Justin.
