In accordance with the Cooperative Societies Act 2005 & Cooperative Societies Regulations 2012 (Proposed), all cooperative societies must complete a feasibility study of the need.  The Department of Cooperative Societies in conjunction with the Bahamas Cooperative League offers assistance with the development and execution of the needs analysis.  


Eligibility 

Existing Cooperative Societies or any group wishing to start a cooperative society.

Process 
  1. Interested persons may submit a written request for assistance to the Bahamas Cooperative League.
  2. A representative from the league would review the request and contact the proposed society representative to initiate discussions. 
  3. The league will conduct an orientation session where they educate the proposed steering committee of the proposed society and work along with the steering committee to meet the identified need.

Turn-around time 

The development and execution of a Needs Analysis Survey can take three to six months. This is heavily dependent on of the responsiveness of the cooperative society and the progress of the engagement.
