Money laundering and terrorist financing are considered to be serious offences here in The Bahamas. In an effort to combat this type of activity, it is important that everyone, both individuals and businesses, play their part in monitoring and reporting any transactions that even look like they could be of this nature. The Financial Intelligence Unit depends on your reports to combat such activities.

Eligibility

The general public, both individuals and businesses, regardless of sector, are free to make reports whenever they observe questionable activity. These reports may be made at any time during regular business hours.

Process
  1. Completely fill out the Suspicious Transaction Report (STR) form, available online by following the link below or at the offices of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU).
  2. Submit the completed STR form along with the relevant supporting documentation to the FIU.  Please note that subsequent to this submission, the FIU may request additional information be submitted.

On completion of the analysis of the submission, the FIU communicates its findings to the reporting party. In cases where the STR can be substantiated, the FIU forwards all of the relevant information to the Royal Bahamas Police Force for investigation of the matter.
