IMO International Maritime Law Institute 2013

 

IMO INTERNATIONAL MARITIME LAW INSTITUTE - 25TH MASTER OF LAWS (LL.M.) IN INTERNATIONAL MARITIME LAW PROGRAMME, SEPTEMBER 2013 IN MALTA.

 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces that applications for the captioned fellowship at the Graduate level are being accepted.

 

IMO International Maritime Law Institute has formally invited Bahamian candidates to apply for acceptance into the 25th Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Maritime Law Programme commencing in September 2013, for a period of one year, in Malta. 

 

The programme cost is self-funded, and selection is made by the IMO committee, once selection criterion is met.  Candidates must have obtained a law degree, from a recognized institution, and exposure to Maritime matters or aspiring to a career in Maritime Law.  The programme is dedicated towards training lawyers in the subject of International Maritime Law, including: Marine Environmental Law, Law of the Sea, Shipping Law and Maritime Legislation Drafting. 

 

The programme consists of twenty-two and a half (22 ½) lecture hours per week, written examinations, a maritime legislative drafting project, a ten thousand (10,000)-word dissertation and a number of field trips. 

 

It is to be noted that the IMO strategy is to integrate women in the Maritime activities; therefore, fifty percent (50%) of the admissions is reserved for women nominees.  Candidates can forward applications directly to the following address:
