STUDENTS, MAKE SURE THAT YOUR PERSONAL DATA IS PROTECTED.

Here are five (5) tips to ensure that your personal data is protected.

1. Password Protect your Device

Students sometimes store a lot of personal data on their computers, Ipads , phones.  Students should make sure that these devices are password protected.

2. Use a Mix Password

It is suggested that students use a solid password which contains a mixture of letters, numbers and symbols.

3. Keep your Password Secret

Don’t share your password with friends.  Your account may contain your personal information as well as those of your family members and friends who might not want their personal information to be disclosed.

4. Guard your Identity and Beware of Identity Theft

College students are sometimes prime targets for identity theft.  Therefore, students should make every effort to ensure that their personal information is protected. Secure your identification cards such as National Insurance Card, Credit Cards, etc.

5.  Be careful of the Online Reputation you create

Remember that once you place something on the internet, it goes global and it can be very difficult to remove it.  Negative posting can negatively impact your future employment prospects.
