Since 2015 the Department of Social Services has been providing Bahamian citizens who have been deported from the United States of America with assistance. Upon arrival, each resident is given a One Hundred Dollar ($100.00) food coupon for food and toiletries and Fifty Dollars ($50.00) per month thereafter, until they are able to find gainful employment. The Unit maintains ongoing follow-ups with each resident to ensure that they are adjusting to their new environments.
