Transport and BHTA discuss tourism industry matters

NASSAU, The Bahamas --  Minister of Transport and Housing the Hon. JoBeth Coleby-Davis, and team leaders of the Road Traffic Department (RTD), met with President of the Bahamas Hotel & Tourism Association (BHTA) Robert 'Sandy' Sands and BHTA members at Rosewood Baha Mar, March 22, 2023.

Matters discussed included: Introduction of Standards -- to upgrade appearance, conduct, adherence to systems and protocols at each gateway and hotel property; Rate Increases; Industry Compliance and Enforcement; Introduction of Mandatory Minimum Standard of
Vehicle - Upkeep, Age; Collaboration of All Stakeholders (BHTA, Port,
LPIA, Hotels, Independent Operators, Various Unions, Government, RTD Board and Department) ensuring wide agreement and consensus among
all stakeholders.

Present were: Minister JoBeth Coleby-Davis; Permanent Secretary Antoinette Thompson; Robert ‘Sandy’ Sands - President/BHTA; Ed Fields - Nassau Cruise Port Ltd.; Sharon Farrington - BHTA; Vernice Walkine - LPIA (BHTA); Suzanne Pattusch - BHTA; Jonathan Hanna - BHTA; Amanda Freedman - Nassau Cruise Port Ltd.; Jackson Weech - VP/BHTA; Gabrielle McKenzie - Consultant/RTD; Lanecia Darville - Road Traffic Authority/Chairman; Ross Smith - Acting Controller/RTD.
