Nassau, Bahamas – Newly appointed Minister of Agriculture & Marine Resources, Hon. Michael C. Pintard, spent his first two days in office familiarizing himself with the respective teams that now fall under his purview.

 

Minister Pintard was introduced to senior managers by outgoing Minister, Hon. Renward Wells. Minister Wells thanked the managers for their professionalism and support during his tenure and he assured Minister Pintard that he could expect no less as he assumes the role of Minister of Agriculture & Marine Resources.

 

Minister Wells assumes responsibility for the Transport and Aviation portfolio.

 

Minister Pintard thanked his predecessor for the passion and drive he displayed as Minister and shared his excitement at the opportunity to serve in an area that reflects his background and training. Minister Pintard studied Agricultural Science at the College of the Bahamas and holds a degree in Agricultural Economics from Tuskegee University. The new minister challenged his managers to maintain the pace set in the government’s agenda for food security and he pledged his commitment to advancing the country’s ability to feed itself.

 

The Minister spent most of Wednesday meeting the senior managers at the Ministry’s head office in the Island Traders Building, East Bay Street. On Thursday, Minister Pintard met with every staff member of the Ministry’s team, as well as conducted visits to the Montagu Dock, the Department of Agriculture, The Food Safety Laboratory of the Department of Marine Resources, Arawak Cay, Potter’s Cay and the Department of Marine Resources. According to Minister Pintard, the visits were a prelude to more detailed meetings with the individual sections of the Ministry. The Minister’s first official duty as minister will be to declare the All Andros & Berry Islands Regatta officially opened. The Regatta runs July 6th thru the 9th in Morgan’s Bluff, Andros.
