Health & Wellness Minister Leads Senior US Defense Officials on tour of PMH COVID Care Areas

The Minister of Health & Wellness, the Honourable Dr. Michael Darville led a group of US Embassy, Public Hospitals Authority (PHA), and Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) officials on a tour of the PMH Legacy Unit and Special Pathogens Unit (SPU) on Monday, 13th December. 

The tour was undertaken as part of ongoing efforts to assess the hospital’s needs with respect to expanding normal in-patient treatment as well as care of COVID-19 patients. Officials examined options for increasing physical space allocated for in-patient treatment and care; opportunities for increased staff training, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies. 

Joining Minister Darville on the tour were Captain Gregg Gellman, US Senior Defense Official, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health & Wellness Mr. Colin Higgs, PHA Managing Director Ms. Catherine Weech, PMH Deputy Hospital Administrator Ms. Tamara Davis, PMH Deputy Medical Chief of Staff Dr. Dashawn Saunders, PMH Principal Nursing Officer Charlene Davis, and PMH Senior Biomedical Engineer Mr. Theodore Nottage. The Ministry of Health & Wellness and the Public Hospitals Authority used the tour to note the Government of The Bahamas’ collective gratitude for the steadfast partnership of the US Government and the US Embassy in New Providence in the fight against COVID-19.
