FREEPORT, Grand Bahama, The Bahamas -- First leg of Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister with responsibility for Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Response, the Hon. Myles LaRoda's visit to Grand Bahama and Bimini where he is consulting with Family Island Administrators, Local Government Practitioners Island Disaster Management and Consultative Teams and Heads of Government Departments following the passage of Potential Tropical Cyclone One which later became Tropical Storm Alex, the first named storm of the 2022 Atlantic Hurricane Season after it passed through the northwest Bahamas.

 

State-Minister LaRoda is accompanied from New Providence by Mrs. Isla Deane, Acting Permanent Secretary, Office of the Prime Minister's Disaster Management Unit; Captain Stephen Russell, Director, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA); Mr. D. Bradley King, Training and Disaster Management Officer, Ministry of Works and Utilities; and Mrs. Andrea Newbold, Chief Welfare Officer, Department of Social Services.

 

The Ministry of Works and Department of Social Services are responsible for Emergency Support Function #3 (Ministry of Works) and Emergency Support Function # 6 ( Department of Social Services).
