MICAL Energy/Economic Development Technical Assessment

NASSAU, The Bahamas -- Prime Minister and Minister of Finance the Hon. Philip Davis announced at the recent Local Government leadership workshop at SuperClubs Breezes that on the weekend of May 28, 2022, the Inter-American Development Bank would conduct technical assessments for the installation of Solar Photovoltaic Systems in Inagua, Acklins, Crooked Island, Mayaguana, and Long Cay (MICAL) to assist energy and economic development.

 

The weekend's technical assessments on MICAL, pictured, were led by members of the Project Execution Unit (PEU)/Reconstruction with Resilience in the Energy Sector in The Bahamas Program (RRESBP) -- Ministry of Finance.

 

The prime minister said at the Local Government workshop: “This transformative initiative is contained in my Government's Economic Plan and Blueprint to provide renewable and solar energy for the country thereby reducing the country's reliance on fossil fuel by 30 percent by 2030."   (BIS Photos/Ulric Woodside)
