The Parliamentary Registration Department recognizes that the right to vote is a fundamental right as provided by Section 9 of the Parliamentary Elections Act, 2021.

 

In furtherance of its obligation as mandated by the Act, the Department will ensure, through a collaborative effort with the Ministry of Health, that ALL necessary health and safety protocols and precautions are enforced on Election Day; including but not limited to the following:

  • Election workers are encouraged to be vaccinated - or at least begin the vaccination process;
  • All voters, poll workers and election agents are required to always wear a face mask while in the Polling Place;
  • Face masks or other face (nose and mouth) covering must be properly worn;
  • Face   shields   were   distributed   to   election   staff/poll            workers for additional protection;
  • Campaigners must not be allowed to be on premises (inside or outside the gate) within 100 yards of the Polling Place;
  • Each polling site must maintain a register of all poll workers at each polling station consisting of their full name, shift times and contact numbers;
  • Hand sanitizing stations will be available throughout the polling site, especially on entry to polling divisions;
  • The minimal classroom size to be utilized is 30 feet x 25 feet and where possible, larger rooms will be used;
  • Individual workstations should be at a distance of 3 to 6 feet;
  • Surface areas within ballot booths and pencils will be sanitized throughout the day;
  • All rooms and walkways outside of the rooms should have clear markings on the floor (3 feet to 6 feet apart);
  • All rooms should be properly sanitized before and after election day; and
  • Each location used as a polling site and the allocated classrooms utilized as a polling division should have the advantage of natural ventilation with opened doors and windows to allow for airflow.

The Parliamentary Registration Department will carry out its obligations in accordance with the Act.
