The Public Hospitals Authority (PHA) is aware of statements made by the Bahamas Public Service Union President during a protest at the Queen’s Staircase earlier today, Wednesday 8th September 8, 2021, referencing that the Industrial Agreement between the PHA and the BPSU has not been signed among other issues. The Union threatened industrial action and service disruptions.

The Authority remains open to engagement with the BPSU on outstanding issues but encourages parties to disputes with the organization to refrain from making threats to hospital services and patient care in an already challenging environment.

The Public Hospitals Authority (PHA) confirms the proposed industrial agreement between the PHA and the BPSU was approved by the PHA Board of Directors at its monthly meeting on May 19th, 2021 and the draft Cabinet Paper relative to same submitted to the Ministry of Health (MOH) for further action on June 15th, 2021.

The Authority awaits the approval of same or otherwise.
