THE DEPARTMENT OF MARINE RESOURCES TO ALL FISHERS IN THER NORTHWESTERN AND EXTREME NORTHWESTERN BAHAMAS
Fishers are notified that Sub-Tropical Storm Nicole has formed in the Western Atlantic just east of The Bahamas, and could be at or near to hurricane strength before it approaches the Northwest Bahamas on Wednesday or Thursday bringing potential for dangerous storm surge, damaging winds and heavy rainfall to the area.
Preparations to secure your fishing boats/vessels, fishing gear and other important items from damages or loss, should have already begun.
Fishers are also encouraged to pay special attention to updates from the Bahamas Meteorological Department on the pending Sub-Tropical Storm Nicole.
Once again, the Department of Marine Resources takes this opportunity to again remind fishers we are still in the hurricane season, which does not officially end until the 30th November 2022, therefore their storm/hurricane mitigating plans should be continuously updated.
