Ministry of Foreign Affairs Participates in the Twenty-Seventh Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Caribbean Forum (CARIFORUM)

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas is pleased to inform the general public that H.E. Mr Reuben Rahming, High Commissioner of The Bahamas to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), led the Bahamian delegation on behalf of the Honourable Darren A. Henfield, Minister of Foreign Affairs, to the Tweny-Seventh Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Caribbean Forum (CARIFORUM) The Forum was chaired by the Hon. Mr. Albert Ramdin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Suriname and was virtually held Tuesday, 30 March 2021.

 

During the Forum, Ministers of CARICOM Member-States engaged in discussions on diverse topics. These topics included the Post-Cotonou Agreement, Post-Cotonou Regional Programming, BREXIT and its implications on the region and the future of the Caribbean Regional Information and Translation Institute (CRITI).

 

High Commissioner Rahming, addressing the Forum, thanked the CARICOM Secretariat for its comprehensive and concise documentation as well as the CARIFORUM Directorate for its work and comprehensive engagement of both civil society and regional institutions. Further, the High Commissioner highlighted the importance of regional programming being considered as countries such as The Bahamas do not have a national envelope or a Multiannual Indicative Programme (MIP) and called for countries without national envelopes to be represented.
